Suntory Beverage & Food France and Carrefour sign a Sustainable Linked Business Plan

The retail group Carrefour and the beverage company Suntory Beverage & Food France (which includes brands such as Orangina and Schweppes) have concluded a Sustainable Linked Business Plan (SLBP).

The agreement supplements the existing business relationship with a non-financial framework and defines joint sustainability targets up to 2030, packaging being the central focus of the plan.
Both companies state that they aim to significantly reduce plastic consumption - the shared roadmap targets a reduction of 520 tonnes of plastic - and to expand the use of recycled materials. Specifically, the share of recycled content already stands at 85% for several brands, including Oasis, Schweppes, Pulco and MayTea, but it is meant to be increased through the future use, across all the Suntory Beverage & Food France brand portfolio, of bottles entirely made from recycled plastic.

As part of the SLBP, Suntory Beverage & Food France and Carrefour will also launch a pilot project in early 2026 in ten stores in Brittany: beverage cans from individual brands will be offered without additional outer plastic packaging, and consumers will be able to assemble customized six-packs without shrink wrap; it is the company’s belief that a nationwide rollout could save approximately 53 tons of plastic, equivalent to around 125 tons of CO₂.

Beyond packaging sustainability, the SLBP also includes logistics and nutrition targets.
For instance both partners aim to reduce CO₂ emissions linked to transport by 12% by 2030, through alternative propulsion systems such as biomethane or electric solutions. At the same time, the share of low-sugar beverages within Carrefour’s assortment will increase further. According to the companies, by 2030, 65% of Suntory Beverage & Food France’s beverage sales volumes are expected to contain less than five grams of sugar per 100 milliliters.
