Pettenon Cosmetics and Ogyre: over 36,000 kg of plastic waste collected at sea

Pettenon Cosmetics Società Benefit e Ogyre announce an important milestone in their joint project aimed at protecting marine ecosystems: more than 36,000 kilograms of plastic waste have been collected from marine and coastal environments, equivalent to the weight of over 3.6 million 0.5-liter PET bottles.

This result marks a significant step in a broader initiative that aims to remove more than 88,000 kilograms of waste over 24 months, representing 5% of Pettenon Cosmetics’ total Plastic Footprint, and confirming the concrete commitment of both organizations in the fight against plastic pollution.

The project is carried out through the global Fishing for Litter program, which involves fishermen and local communities in collecting waste during their daily activities at sea. The recovered materials are then tracked and managed through responsible recycling or disposal practices.

A distinctive element of the initiative is the use of blockchain technology, which enables the monitoring of the entire process and ensures maximum transparency and traceability of the environmental impact generated, in line with Pettenon Cosmetics’ commitment as a Benefit Company and its “Beauty Beyond Beauty” vision.

Celebrating 80 years for Pettenon Cosmetics means taking responsibility, now more than ever, for contributing to a better future - said Luigi Ambrosini, CEO of Pettenon Cosmetics - Sustainability is not a separate initiative, but a structural component of the way we operate and create long-term value: our collaboration with Ogyre clearly reflects this vision.
