Movopack acquires Hipli, a French leader in reusable packaging

The acquisition of Hipli’s assets now enables the Milanese company to expand this model to the French market, integrating it with local expertise.

Movopack, a company specialising in reusable packaging for retail, ecommerce and B2B logistics, announces its entry into the French market through the acquisition of all assets of Hipli, the Le Havre-based company that pioneered circular packaging in France. This operation marks a key step in Movopack’s international growth journey, following the launch of operations in the United Kingdom in 2024, and aims to accelerate the company’s growth and strengthen its position in the European sustainable packaging sector, with the goal of managing 10 million packaging units in France over the next 24 months.

Founded in Milan in 2021 by Tomaso Torriani, Alberto Cisco, and Andrea Cipollone, Movopack develops returnable and customizable packaging solutions designed to be used more than 20 times, helping brands to significantly reduce the environmental impact of their packaging.

According to a preliminary life-cycle assessment conducted by third parties, each Movopack packaging unit, when reused 20 times, can reduce packaging waste by up to 98% and CO2 emissions by up to 84% compared to single-use alternatives. With over 100 clients across Italy and the United Kingdom - including Decathlon Italy, Yamamay and OVS - the company closed a funding round at the end of 2024, led by 360 Capital Partners fund and joined by Greiner Innoventures and Techstars, reaching a total of €3 million of funding raised.

In France, Hipli was one of the leading players in circular packaging for e-commerce. Launched in 2020, the start-up developed reusable packaging designed to be reused up to 100 times, supported by digital tools that facilitate tracking and adoption. Hipli can count on more than 350 clients, including major brands well-known to French consumers, and has expanded its operations across several European markets, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. Movopack is acquiring all of Hipli’s assets, including its brand, intellectual property, operational infrastructure, warehouse and inventory, gaining a strong foothold to establish itself in the French market.

Each customer will be supported with personalized solutions throughout the transition period leveraging the existing infrastructure in Le Havre, while the management of Hipli’s packaging already in circulation will be transferred to Movopack, in direct coordination with customers to guarantee continuity of service and maximum operational flexibility.

With an e-commerce market valued at €196.4 billion in 2025 according to FEVAD and the e-commerce packaging segment estimated by Grand View Research to be worth approximately $3.2 billion in 2025, France represents one of the largest and most dynamic markets in Europe.

Expanding into France marks a strategic step for us in a key market for e‐commerce and retail in Europe- said Tomasio Torianni, CEO & Co-founder of Movopack - Our goal is to provide brands and retailers with a scalable and efficient reusable‐packaging model, fully aligned with each country’s operational requirements, and to support an increasing number of clients in adopting fully customized and sustainable solutions.”
