Sustainable packaging for drones from Croatia

In the European landscape of sustainable packaging applied to advanced electronics, a collaboration from Croatia is bringing together technological innovation and industrial sustainability. EcoCortec® and Orqa, two leading companies in the country, have launched a strategic partnership to protect global drone shipments with next-generation packaging materials.

EcoCortec®, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of environmentally friendly packaging, has developed for Orqa a customized gray version of the recyclable EcoSonic® VpCI®-125 ESD film. The solution is designed to meet the needs of highly sensitive sectors such as FPV (First Person View) drones and Remote Reality technologies, where the reliability and integrity of components are essential.

Advanced protection against corrosion and electrostatic discharge

During international transportation, electronic devices are exposed to two main risks: corrosion caused by salty air and electrostatic discharge (ESD). The EcoSonic® VpCI®-125 ESD system addresses these challenges through VpCI® (Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors) technology, which releases protective molecules capable of saturating the internal environment of the packaging.

This process creates an invisible barrier that reaches even the micro-cavities of the most complex electronic circuits, preventing corrosion before it can begin. It is a technology that surpasses traditional methods such as desiccant bags or antistatic sprays, now considered less effective and less sustainable.

A low-emission “just-in-time” logistics model

One of the key elements of this collaboration is the geographical proximity between the two companies: EcoCortec® and Orqa are located about 20 minutes apart, in the area between Beli Manastir and Osijek.

This proximity enables the development of an extremely efficient “just-in-time” supply chain, reducing delivery times, logistics costs and transport-related emissions. A model that strengthens industrial competitiveness without compromising environmental goals.

In addition, the use of fully recyclable materials helps reduce waste and makes the entire production cycle more sustainable.
