High-performance new line for lidding and pouches launched in Lugo di Vicenza
Amcor, a global leader in sustainable packaging development, has invested in a new production line for high-barrier recycle-ready films at its Amcor Flexibles site in Lugo di Vicenza, Italy. The material will be used for lidding and pouches in the food, beverage, pet food, and healthcare sectors, including innovative materials such as AmLite HeatFlex™, designed for retort (high-temperature sterilization) applications.
The technology maintains excellent barrier properties while ensuring recyclability. The expansion (nearly 7,000 m²) supports all stages of the production process and includes a quality control laboratory as well as a high-density automated warehouse with temperature-controlled chambers for curing the material, ensuring consistent quality of the final packaging.
This investment reflects a commitment to ethical and sustainable packaging, further reinforced by the European Union’s Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which requires brands to switch to recycle-ready packaging by 2030.
