adapa proposals for 2023

adapa - formerly Schur Flexibles - is one of the leading manufacturers of flexible packaging in Europe.

The company, which was founded in 2012 as Schur Flexibles and renamed in 2022, generates an annual turnover of around 690 million euros, making it one of the leading companies in the industry in Europe. adapa employs around 2,200 people at 22 locations across Europe, which are highly specialised centres of excellence and enjoy technology leader status in their field.

The choice of the name adapa, which derives from "adaptive packaging", comes from one of the pivotal values of the Group, that is its proper ability to adapt in a constantly changing world.

"Over the last few years, we have developed a performant portfolio of sustainable packaging solutions for and with our customers. Now it is time to use these new films across the board to make the circular economy a reality. We actively support our customers in their transition. #Future is driven by action sums it up".

Since its establishment, the group has built up in-depth knowledge and expertise in almost all technologies in the flexible packaging field and therefore considers itself ideally positioned to always provide customers with the best packaging solution for their products. The adapa Group, headquartered in Wiener Neudorf, Austria, specializes in innovative, high-quality and customized high-barrier packaging solutions for the food, tobacco, hygiene and pharmaceutical industries.

Highlights for 2023
adapa has a broad portfolio of sustainable packaging solutions, including innovative PP-, PE- and paper-based structures.

Highlights include the purely PE-based flow wrap film for coffee and other aromatic products, made with CrystalPE developed by adapa. The high-barrier film replaces standard PET/PE structures and protects the packaged products reliably - from production to end consumer. In addition to excellent machinability, the PE packaging is characterized by exceptional printing capabilities. The haptics underlines the high quality of the packaging solution.

For manufacturers of popsicles and other products whose packaging is produced on horizontal flow pack machines and require “easy to open” features, adapa presents an innovation: the new certified recyclable paper-based flowpack offers a contemporary alternative to OPP films. It is coated with a special heat-sealing dispersion varnish and features a particularly delicate peel. In addition, it has excellent printing capabilities and can be easily used on existing packaging machines.

The complete solution MonoClose(re) is a representative example of the group's strong development performance: both the top and bottom film of this PP-based reclosable packaging are developed by adapa. The C-base bottom film, which has been tried and tested over many years, is combined with the newly developed MonoClose(re) P-Type to create a high-performance, high-barrier package. Its advantage: a reliable reclosure, best printing capabilities and a lower CO2 footprint compared to its PET-based counterpart.
