Ticinoplast has achieved the EcoVadis Silver Medal for the second consecutive year, a recognition reserved for companies that rank in the top 15% of the global sustainability assessment. The rating confirms the company's commitment to integrated ESG practices throughout the entire value chain.
With environmental protection in mind, in recent years Ticinoplast has focused on researching solutions that reduce packaging weight through thickness reduction of more technical films and density reduction of foam films. The company has developed, in collaboration with its partners, bi-oriented polyethylene films suitable for both printing processes and enhancement through coating or vacuum processes, ensuring barrier properties to gases, aromas and water vapour.
Ticinoplast's sustainability strategy is embodied in the Nexfilm™ range, launched in 2020 to address the challenges of the circular economy in flexible packaging. The range includes films designed for mono-material, compostable and renewable packaging, with and without gas and aroma barriers.
On the recycling front, Ticinoplast is particularly interested in chemical recycling: through pyrolysis of post-consumer waste it is possible to obtain industrial oils that can be used as raw materials for new plastic films.
To optimise these processes, the company has focused on laminates made with the same polymeric origin, facilitating treatment in future waste recovery and valorisation plants.
The confirmation of the EcoVadis Silver Medal demonstrates how technological innovation can be effectively integrated with environmental sustainability and circularity objectives.
