Packaging takes center stage in Milan with the exhibition “Design di Filiera. La Filiera del Packaging”, taking place from March 3 to 22, 2026, at the ADI Design Museum – Compasso d’Oro. Promoted by ADI – Association for Industrial Design – and UCIMA, the exhibition highlights a key concept for the sector: design is not just about form, but a strategic lever across the entire packaging supply chain.
Among the featured companies is Seda International Packaging Group, which has chosen this platform to showcase one of its most recent innovations: Eco Fit - The New Generation Lid, the paper lid that has transformed the beverage market.
Eco Fit: high synergy between innovation and sustainability
Eco Fit replaces traditional plastic lids for hot and cold beverages in the food service sector. It is not merely a material alternative, but a project that integrates functionality, user experience, and environmental performance into a single solution, responding to increasing pressure to reduce plastic use and improve recyclability.
Made from certified renewable fibers, Eco Fit was developed according to strict ecodesign principles and validated through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analyses, which confirm its superior environmental performance compared to plastic and molded fiber alternatives. Fully recyclable in the paper stream and also available in a compostable version, the lid enables a significant reduction in plastic use- up to 400 tons saved for every 100 million pieces produced. This figure highlights its potential contribution to the transition toward circular economy models, particularly in a high-consumption sector such as on-the-go beverages.
Eco Fit is also part of an integrated system with Seda’s patented Double Wall cups, demonstrating a systemic design approach that considers packaging as a coordinated set of components, optimizing thermal performance, ergonomics, and overall sustainability.
