Amcor organises PPWR meeting

Amcor, Amcor, a responsible packaging manufacturer, hosted an event at its facility in Steinfeld, Germany, focused on the PPWR and its implications for logistics packaging on 20th November.

The event brought together stakeholders from across the packaging supply chain to explore how evolving European regulations are influencing the design, recyclability and material selection of logistics packaging. Participants included representatives from the Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) – a non-profit association founded in 1978 to promote awareness of logistics and supply chain management across industry, science and the public sphere – as well as leading organisations from the logistics and industrial packaging industries.

Guests also toured the manufacturing operations at the Steinfeld site to see how innovation in materials and processes is helping Amcor's customers progress towards PPWR targets and more circular packaging solutions.

During the discussions, guests were introduced to Amcor's stretch hood film solutions for pallets, designed to withstand the rigours of the supply chain whilst supporting sustainability goals such as reduced reliance on virgin materials through post-consumer recycled (PCR) content and downgauging, enabling customers to reduce their plastic use and move towards more circular packaging systems.

The PPWR will bring significant changes to how packaging is designed, produced and managed across Europe, said Daniel Stauber, sales director at Amcor.

Events like this provide an important platform for open dialogue on how logistics and packaging can evolve to meet new regulatory and sustainability challenges, said Gerald Honerkamp, deputy spokesperson for the Münster/Osnabrück Regional Group of the Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL).

As part of its broader logistics packaging range, Amcor also offers Bontite stretch wrap – a blown film with recycled content. Its high stretch performance enables downgauging and reduced material use whilst maintaining pallet stability for efficient and reliable stabilisation.

Furthermore, Amcor provides a comprehensive range of primary and secondary packaging solutions for consumer and industrial markets – from films for growing media and chemicals to packaging for FMCG applications – all developed to balance performance and efficiency whilst supporting customers' sustainability objectives.
